There are a lot of different things you need to keep track of when looking for your next vehicle, which can vary depending on your situation and what works for you. This is part of the reason you will find so many different models here at Bedard Brothers Honda, your Honda dealership near North Adams, providing you and other Massachusetts drivers with plenty of options to choose from. One thing we can all agree on, however, is that we want a vehicle that’s as fuel-efficient as possible—improved fuel economy means paying less at the pump and making fewer stops for gas. As busy as our lives are these days, anything that takes some hassle off our shoulders is a perk.
This is something Honda clearly understands because it offers some efficient vehicles with powerful engines that make its cars, trucks, and SUVs incredibly fun to drive. That being said, there is still a difference between the gas mileage you get from one model compared to another. For instance, while the midsize Honda Ridgeline pickup delivers a great driving experience and enough muscle to pull 5,000 lbs behind it, it’s not the most efficient ride in Honda’s lineup. Let’s take a look at the seven Honda models for 2024 that deliver gas mileage that lets you skip the gas station longer.
#1 – The 2024 Honda Accord Hybrid
It should come as no surprise that the top spot goes to a hybrid model (top two spots, actually), but that’s half the draw of a hybrid engine. As you may know, hybrid powertrains feature a standard gas-powered engine along with a battery-powered electric motor that takes some of the strain off the engine. This can be used to boost power and performance—particularly in a large truck or SUV—but it also works well to promote incredible fuel efficiency since the engine doesn’t have to generate as much power for the vehicle. The 2024 Accord Hybrid is the perfect example of this: it gets an EPA-estimated 51 MPG in the city, 44 MPG on the highway, and 48 MPG combined.[a] This is the best fuel economy of any model in the 2024 Honda lineup and far surpasses what you can get with a conventional gasoline engine.

#2 – The 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid
If you’re looking for a small SUV for driving around North Adams and you don’t want to stop very often for gas, then you can’t beat the Honda CR-V Hybrid. It makes sense that we have another hybrid in the second position for the most efficient Honda models, but we love seeing a compact SUV in this spot. Sedans have historically been the most efficient option, and that’s certainly still the case. However, the functionality of an SUV—even a small one—is hard to beat, particularly for families. With the 2024 CR-V Hybrid, you get an EPA-estimated 43 MPG in the city, 36 MPG on the highway, and 40 MPG combined.[b] You can see that even though this is incredibly impressive, it still can’t keep up with the remarkable 51 MPG in the city that you can get thanks to the Honda Accord Hybrid.[a]
#3 – The 2024 Honda Civic
That’s it for the hybrid models on this list, so if you’re not interested in one for any particular reason (we’ll admit they typically have a slightly higher starting price, so they don’t work for every budget), then this is the place to start. The Honda Civic is a compact sedan and the smallest vehicle in Honda’s lineup, so it makes sense it’s also incredibly efficient. There are two engines available for the 2024 Civic. The base option is a 158-hp 2.0L I-4 that gets an EPA-estimated 31 MPG in the city, 40 MPG on the highway, and 35 MPG combined.[c] The higher trims have a 180-hp turbocharged I-4 that gets an EPA-estimated 33 MPG in the city, 42 MPG on the highway, and 36 MPG combined.[c] You can see the more powerful option is also more efficient, making it a fantastic choice—note that the sedan models get slightly better gas mileage than hatchback versions due to differences in weight and aerodynamics.
#4 – The 2024 Honda Accord
If you’re looking for something a bit larger but still want to stick to a sedan, then the traditional gasoline-powered Honda Accord is a terrific choice. Even without the available hybrid engine that we looked at, this beauty is in the top five for the most efficient models you can get from Honda right now. The 2024 Accord comes with a 1.5L turbocharged engine that gets an EPA-estimated 29 MPG in the city, 37 MPG on the highway, and 32 MPG combined.[d] Since the Accord is a midsize car, it becomes a terrific option if you have a small family or a group of friends that you want to cart along with you while minimizing your stops for gas.
#5 – The 2024 Honda Civic Si
Interestingly, the performance-focused Honda Civic Si is also a worthy addition to this list and gets surprising gas mileage despite the power it puts out. If you want a vehicle for zipping around North Adams or hitting the highway and letting loose a bit after a long day of work, the sporty 2024 Civic Si is an amazing choice. Not only does it have a 2.0L turbocharged engine that delivers an impressive 200 hp and 192 lb-ft of torque, but it also gets an EPA-estimated 27 MPG in the city, 37 MPG on the highway, and 31 MPG combined.[e] You can go longer between stops for gas and enjoy a sporty, nimble ride while doing so.

#6 – The 2024 Honda CR-V
If you’re interested in a traditional gasoline-powered SUV, then Honda offers some great vehicles that are perfect for a small family while also reducing how often you’ll need to stop for gas. A smaller SUV will be your most efficient choice in general, so it’s no surprise that the compact Honda CR-V is the first option here for an SUV with great gas mileage. If you go with a 2024 CR-V that has the standard turbocharged engine, then you’ll get an EPA-estimated 28 MPG in the city, 34 MPG on the highway, and 30 MPG combined.[f] We should note that this is for a model with front-wheel drive; a Honda CR-V with all-wheel drive loses about one MPG from each of these estimates.
#7 – The 2024 Honda HR-V
Rounding things out in our top seven, we have a second SUV option, which is actually a slightly smaller model than the CR-V. The Honda HR-V is a subcompact SUV that has less room inside it for cargo than the CR-V. However, while the CR-V has a turbocharged engine, the HR-V features a basic gas engine. The result is that the smaller 2024 HR-V gets an EPA-estimated 26 MPG in the city, 32 MPG on the highway, and 28 MPG combined if you go with one that has front-wheel drive.[g] We wish the engine on this beauty was turbocharged to boost performance and efficiency, but it starts at a much lower price than the CR-V, which makes it a great option for drivers sticking to a tight budget.
