Read on to learn more about the 2024 Accord and Civic.
The 2024 Honda Civic
It might shock you to learn that the Civic was originally introduced in 1972. That’s right, this nameplate is over fifty years old! When it first debuted, you could choose from a two-door fastback sedan with a rounded look or a three-door hatchback. Both options were designed to be fuel-efficient, responding to EPA emissions standards that were introduced around the same time.
Today, the Civic is in its 11th generation and can be found in both a sedan and hatchback version.
Civic Sedan
The Civic Sedan is available in four trim levels, each with its own benefits. For the base LX trim, you’ll enjoy a seamless connection to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, LED headlights, seating for five, and a 7.0-inch color touchscreen that puts everything you need right at your fingertips. The Civic Sedan LX also provides you with a host of driver assistance features, such as a Collision Mitigation Braking System and a Lane Keeping Assist System.
When choosing the top-tiered Touring trim level, added benefits include heated front seats with leather upholstery (which are perfect for chilly Cheshire mornings), a Bose Premium Sound System with twelve speakers and a subwoofer, and more. Additional safety measures include parking sensors for the front and rear and a Blind Spot Information System that gives you more confidence when changing lanes.
The Civic Sedan also presents a streamlined exterior and a smooth, responsive transmission that will see you glide down the road. Depending on the trim you choose, you get either an inline four-cylinder or an inline four-cylinder with a turbocharger. Both engines are part of the Honda K-series of four-cylinder engines and have been used in the Civic since 1998. These engines are lightweight and compact, offering a simple design that is easy to maintain, which is another reason why the Civic is a great option for your everyday needs.
Finally, for fuel efficiency, you’ll reap an EPA-estimated 35 MPG combined for the LX trim and 36 MPG combined for the Touring trim.[a]
Civic Hatchback
The Civic Hatchback is likewise available in four trim levels. While it has many of the same features as the Sedan, there are a few differences, especially in the Sport and Sport Touring trims; here, you’ll find Dual-Mode Paddle Shifters, which allow you to manually change gears without a clutch and without taking your hands off the wheel. The dual-mode nature also lets you switch between automatic and manual modes, giving you more control and elevating the driving experience.
The Hatchback has a seating capacity of five and the same driver assistance options as the Sedan. You’ll also find the interior welcoming, with easy access to charging ports for your mobile devices and the ability to sync compatible phones for customized playlists, directions, calls, and more.
The Civic Hatchback has the same engine options as the Sedan, so you can expect superb handling as you navigate your way along the western shore or pack up the Hatchback with hiking gear and explore Mount Greylock State Reservation. As for cargo space, the 2024 Civic Hatchback gives you all the room you need with 24.5 cu.ft. with the rear seats up and nearly twice as much more when they're folded down.
Also worth mentioning is the Civic and Honda’s award-winning history. For example, both vehicles were Edmunds' "Top Rated Car" in 2023, among Car and Driver’s "10Best Cars" in 2023, the "Best Compact Car for the Money" from US News & World Report in 2022, and Kelley Blue Book’s 2022 "Best Buy Award."[b][c][d][e]
The 2024 Honda Accord
The Honda Accord is only a few years younger than the Civic. It was introduced in 1976 and was only offered as a three-door hatchback at that time. The Accord was considered advanced for its time, with the availability of a five-speed manual transmission or a two-speed semi-automatic option, as well as generous interior room despite its small footprint. Today, much like the Civic, the Accord is in its 11th generation and gives you the choice of two gas-powered trims and four hybrid trims.
The gas-powered version of the 2024 Accord offers room for five and connectivity to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Plus, its fuel efficiency gets top marks at an EPA-estimated 32 MPG combined.[a] Other standout features of the Accord include the available One-Touch Power Moonroof with a tilting ability, Push Button Start, an available Dual-Zone Automatic Climate Control System, and storage pockets throughout the cabin.
When opting for the Accord Hybrid, you can choose from four trim levels. Three of these trims give you an estimated range of 563 miles, while the EX-L Hybrid will grant up to 614 miles of range.[a] You’ll also find top-of-the-line seating features that range from cloth upholstery to heating and ventilation elements up front.
Additionally, standard features across the Accord Hybrid's trims include a One-Touch Power Moonroof with a tilting ability, a Blind Spot Information System, Alexa Built-In, Traffic Jam Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow, and more.
Whether you choose the gas-powered option or opt for the hybrid, you’ll love the sense of control you feel as you drive down the road. This is thanks to the Accord’s solid frame, responsive handling, and available traction modes that support you at every mile.
